Text: Asbóth Oszkár, also rendered as Oskar Asboth, (31 March 1891 in Pankota – 27 February 1960 in Budapest) was a Hungarian aviation engineer often credited with the invention of the helicopter. His machine used stacked counterrotating propellers; Asbóth never solved the problem of in-flight stability, this was left to others.
He grew up in Arad, which is today part of Romania, and at a very young age began to explore the possibilities of human flight. Like most of the pioneers of aviation he was confronted with the challenge of stabilising the movement of the aeroplane, and to this end developed numerous devices. He sent one of his devices to the headquarters of the Air Force in Vienna.
As a result he made something of a name for himself while still very young. For his military service he was sent to the propeller development facility of Fischamend. During the First World War he was involved in the selection of propellers for the various types of aeroplane engine. He had a clear understanding of the principles involved in propeller development and production and was soon in a position to patent his own design for straight-edged, more efficient propellers, which could also be manufactured more simply.
Asbóth's design was successful and his propellers were used by several types of aeroplane in the First World War. From 1918, Asbóth's propellers were mass-produced in the First Propeller Works at Albertfalva, next to the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy's biggest aircraft-manufacturing plant, under Asbóth's supervision until the collapse of the monarchy. After the war a new propeller works, the "Express" Works, was built, which, until 1922 as a result of the aviation ban, produced mainly propellers for aircraft and boats. After the ban was lifted this company become the Oszkár Asbóth Aircraft Factory and began manufacturing in Budapest their patent light wooden car bodies, aeroplanes and propellers. 6 May 1959: Vsevolod Vladimirovich Vinitsky (Всеволод Владимирович Виницкий), with Sergei P. Sanayev, flew a Kamov Ka-15 coaxial helicopter to set a Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) World Record for Speed Over a Closed Circuit of 500 Kilometers Without Payload. The Ka-15 was a single-engine, two-place, light helicopter, flown by a single pilot. The protototype first flew 14 April 1953, with Dmitry Konstantinovich Efremov, chief test pilot for the Kamov Design Bureau. The helicopter used two fully-articulated, three-bladed, counter-rotating coaxial rotors. The helicopter had two vertical fins mounted at the ends of a horizontal stabilizer, and four-wheeled fixed landing gear.
The fuselage of the Ka-15 was 6.26 meters (20 feet, 6.5 inches) long. The main rotors’ diameter was 9.96 meters (32 feet, 8.1 inches), and the overall height of the the helicopter was 3.35 meters (10 feet, 11.9 inches). The span of the horizontal stabilizer and vertical fins were 2.85 meters (9 feet, 4.2 inches). The Ka-15 had an empty weight of 996 kilograms (2,196 pounds), normal takeoff weight of 1,360 kilograms (2,998 pounds), and maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 1,460 kilograms (3,219 pounds).
The rotors turn at 333 r.p.m. The upper rotor turned clockwise, as seen from above. (The advancing blade is on the left), and the lower blades turn counter-clockwise (their advancing blades are on the right). The area of the main rotor disc was 155.83 square meters (1,677.29 square feet) with a solidity ratio of 3% per rotor. (This is the lowest coefficient of disc area of any helicopter.) Each main rotor blade was trapezoidal, with a theoretical chord at the axis of rotation of 300 millimeters (11.8 inches), narrowing to 100 millimeters (3.9 inches) at the blade tip. The blades incorporated 12° of negative twist.
The Ka-15 was powered by a single air-cooled, supercharged 10.131 liter (618.234 cubic inches) Ivchenko AI-14V nine-cylinder radial engine with a compression ratio of 5.9:1. The engine was rated at 188 kilowatts (252 horsepower). It weighed approximately 200 kilograms (441 pounds).
The helicopter could carry a single passenger or 364 kilograms (802 pounds) of cargo. (Interestingly, the contemporary single main rotor/tail rotor Mil Mi-1 helicopter required 575 horsepower to lift the same payload as the Ka-15.)

The Ka-15 had a cruise speed 120 kilometers per hour (75 miles per hour) and maximum speed 155 kilometers per hour (96 miles per hour). The service ceiling was 3,500 meters (11,483 feet). It could hover out of ground effect (HOGE) at 600 meters (1,969 feet). The helicopter had a normal range of 278 kilometers (173 miles) and maximum range of 520 kilometers (323 miles).
The performance of the Ka-15 was better than had been predicted. After several years of testing, the Ka-15 entered production in 1956. It was the first mass-produced coaxial helicopter, with approximately 375 being built by Aircraft Factory No. 99 at Ulan-Ude, the capitol city of the Buryat-Mongolian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
In a coaxial rotor system, one rotor is placed above the other, with the drive shaft for the upper rotor inside the hollow drive shaft of the lower. As in tandem rotor helicopters, each counter-rotating rotor counteracts the torque effect of the other. There is no anti-torque rotor (tail rotor) required. In helicopters using a tail rotor, as much as 30% of engine power is required to drive the tail rotor. With counter-rotating rotors, all of the engine’s power can be used to provide lift and thrust.
A second benefit of a coaxial rotor is that the dissymetry of lift of each rotor is also canceled out. There is no translating tendency while in a hover, and higher forward speeds are possible because the effect of retreating blade stall is reduced. A helicopter with coaxial rotors is more compact than a similar helicopter with tandem rotors. This makes it useful for operations in confined areas or aboard ships.
Nikolai Ilich Kamov was previously known for his autogyro designs, which were first produced in 1929. These included the Tsentralniy Aerogidrodinamicheskiy Institut (Central Aero-Hydrodynamic Institute) TsAGI A-7, which was the first armed autogyro. The Kamov Design Bureau was established 7 October 1948 at Lyubertsy, near Moscow, Russia.

The fuselage of the Ka-26 consists of a fixed, bubble-shaped cockpit containing the pilot and co-pilot, plus a removable, variable box available in medevac, passenger-carrying and cropduster versions. The helicopter can fly with or without the box attached, giving it much flexibility in use. The Ka-26 is small enough and handles well enough to land on a large truck bed.
The main weakness of the Ka-26 is its engine. It is powered by two 325 hp (239 kW) Vedeneyev M-14V-26 radial enginesmounted in off-board nacelles. The reciprocating engines, although more responsive than modern turboshafts, are relatively maintenance intensive. The Ka-26 is underpowered with its two radial engines, especially when used in cropdusting role, where excess payload is common. No other helicopter exists in the world that runs at constant 95% engine power for most of its flight regime. This leaves the pilot with little power reserve for emergencies. Due to frequent overloads, the interconnect shaft which joins the two engines is prone to breakage and requires frequent inspection.
Due to the limitations of the Ka-26, USSR and Romania agreed under the Comecon trade to build a single engine version called Kamov Ka-126 which had better aerodynamics and range.
The standard instrumentation of the Ka-26 resembles that of larger naval Kamovs and is considered excessive for civilian or cropdusting use. The large cockpit panel with its 18 main dials obscures a significant part of the right-downwards view direction from the cabin, which is crucial to avoid telephone and power lines in agricultural and other low-altitude roles. It is common practice to replace the instrument panel with a simplified layout, retaining only the six generally useful dials for better vision.
The low height of the lower rotor requires passengers and crew to approach from the rear when the rotors are turning, as it is low enough to contact a person's head at the front of the aircraft.

Egy legendás helikopter, amelyből egykor 100 példány repült a hazai mezőgazdaságban. Koaxiális rotorelrendezés, szitakötőre hasonlító kabin, gyors és látványos fordulók kis magasságon. Apa és fia a pilótafülkében sok ezer órás tapasztalattal a hátuk mögött. Mi mindenre használták az elmúlt 50 évben a Kamov 26-ost? Hányféle változat készült? És van-e jövőjük a furcsa kinézetű dupla rotoros gépeknek?
A Kamov 26-osok fejlesztése a 60-as évek közepén indul a Szovjetunióban, de a koaxiális rotorelrendezéssel Nyikoláj Ilijics Kamov már a 40-es években foglalkozott. 1950 merült fel az igény a Szovjetunióban új, jellemzően polgári célú, a növényvédelemben is jól használható helikopterek tervezésére és megépítésére. Az első Kamov 26-os 1965-ben szállt fel először.
A Kamov 26-osokat az elmúlt évtizedekben 15 országban használták és használják ma is. A típus sorozatgyártása 1968-tól 1978-ig tartott, ezalatt több mint 800 példány készült. Magyarországon a Néphadsereg, a rendőrség egyaránt használta, a mezőgazdasági feladatokat ellátó MÉM Repülőgépes Szolgálat pedig közel 100 helikoptert üzemeltetett. A hazai mezőgazdaságban, a TSZ-eket kiszolgáló, az óriási táblák permetezését ellátó helikopterek a 60-as évek végén kezdtek megjelenni. (Szerkesztő: Kránitz Balázs)

Nyikolaj Iljics Kamov az 1940-es évek elejétől foglalkozott helikopterek tervezésével, ezen belül is a koaxiális rotorelrendezéssel. Terveinek tényleges megvalósítására azonban csak a második világháborút követően kerülhetett sor. Ebben az időszakban tervezte és építette meg Ka–8 típusú helikopterét, mely nagy sikert aratott az 1948-as tusinói légiparádén tartott bemutató repülésével. A kísérleti célból épített Ka–8-at csak átmeneti típusnak szánták, ezért szerkezeti felépítése és kialakítása egyszerű volt, még valódi futóművel sem rendelkezett.
A Ka–26 két közvetlen elődjének a Ka–20 és Ka–25 típusú helikopterek tekinthetők. Ezek a repülőszerkezetek szintén koaxiális elrendezésű rotorral rendelkeztek, ez a Kamov tervezőiroda helikoptereire azóta is jellemző. A feladatkörükből és méretükből adódóan meghajtásukra ezekbe a helikopterekbe gázturbinákat építettek be.
Az 1950-es évek végén felmerült az igény egy könnyű és egyszerű, főként polgári és mezőgazdasági feladatok ellátására alkalmas helikopter kifejlesztésére, majd rendszeresítésére. A tervezéssel a Kamov tervezőintézetet bízták meg, bár ezzel egyidejűleg a Mil cég is fejlesztett hasonló feladatkörű helikoptert Mi-2-es típusjelzéssel, ami nem volt igazán jellemző az 1950-es évek szocialista tervgazdálkodására.
A Ka–26 helikopter fejlesztését az 1960-as évek elején kezdték. A prototípus első felszállására 1965. augusztus 18-án került sor. Meghajtására két darab Vegyenyejev M–14V–26 típusú léghűtéses csillagmotort építettek be, melyek teljesítménye egyenként 325 LE.
A típussal több repülési rekordot állítottak fel a Moszkva melletti Zsukovszkij repülőbázison. 1982. március 11-én szovjet pilótanők, Tatjana Zujeva 5626 méteres magasságon, és 5602 méteren vízszintesen repült vele. Nagyezsda Jermemina 8 perc 19,3 másodperc alatt emelkedett helikopterével 3000 méteres magasságba. A Ka–26-ból megközelítőleg 816 példányt gyártottak.

Coaxial Helicopters:
Most pioneering helicopter designers did not chose a configuration with a main
rotor and a tail rotor. They almost always solved the unbalanced torque problem
by using two or more main rotors. Some located the rotors in the same plane as
tandems, side-by-sides, or quad-rotors, but many chose to use two rotors on the
same shaft—the coaxial arrangement.
In the beginning
The first designs of Igor Sikorsky and Stanley Hiller were coaxials and even
Arthur Young, developer of the Bell helicopter, toyed with a coaxial. In this they
joined pioneer designers Pateras Pescara in Spain, Corridino D'Ascanio in Italy,
Louis Breguet in France, and Peter Papadakos with his Gyrodyne Helicopters in
America.
Today (1996), only the Kamov design bureau in Russia is actively designing
coaxials; one example is the Ka-32 (Figure 16-1). And even Kamov seems to be
having second thoughts; having recently brought forth the Ka-62, a design with
one main rotor and a fenestron.

Hu. text: A Pogány Madonna 1980-ban forgatott, 1981-ben bemutatott egész estés magyar krimi-akció-vígjáték, melynek főszereplője Bujtor István ('Ötvös Csöpi') és Kern András ('Kardos doktor'). A történet Bujtor novellájának filmre írásából született.
Az alkotás nagy sikert ért el, noha eleinte sokan szkeptikusan, de legalábbis fanyalogva fogadták a „bunyós vígjáték” ötletét. Mára azonban legendássá vált a pofonosztó exzsaru és Kardos doktor kettőse, amely a Pogány Madonna sikere után újabb Csöpi-filmekben szórakoztatta a közönséget.

The curious stern and flight deck, - possibly incorporating a ramp for small boats or landing craft aboard a Udaloy class destroyer of the Russian Federation Navy RFS Vitse Admiral Kulakov outward bound from Portsmouth Naval Base, UK, after a five-day visit, 28 August 2012. Also rather strange are the twin rail tracks either side of the ramp, - and reminiscent of depth-charge rails on older ships. These are not usually fitted in ships of modern Western navies. Vitse Admiral Kulakov has recently been deployed in the Indian Ocean on anti-piracy duty, and in late July 2012, led a flotilla of the Russian Northern Fleet to the Eastern Mediterranean to conduct naval drills, close to the Syrian coast. Fotókkal és videóval is készültünk a csütörtök esti alacsony repkedésről. Egy lassan kihaló szakma egyik utolsó éllovasával repültünk.
Csütörtökön este Szombathelyen repkedett egy sárga helikopter, alacsonyan cikázva a panelházak, a parkok fái közt és a Csónakázótó felett. Szúnyogirtást végzett, hogy a Szentivánéji Vigasságokról több mosollyal, mint szúnyogcsípéssel menjenek majd haza a polgárok. Ki vezette a gépet? Milyen a második legveszélyesebb repülős foglalkozás? A cikkből minden kiderül, kollégánk ott ült a pilóta mellett, az "anyósülésen".

Feltankolja üzemanyaggal és szúnyogirtószerrel a helikoptert, lépésről-lépésre átvizsgálja a műszereket, hogy minden rendben legyen az esti repülésre. Kicsivel később megérkezik a légi cowboy, Zsenák Csaba a pilóta is, kipattan az autóból és már veszi is fel a kantáros munkaruhát, megy ő is a helikopterhez. Harminc éve ilyen gépekkel repül, méltán híres a szakmájában, sok olyan helyre hívják dolgozni, amit más nem vállal - kisujjában a mezőgazdasági repülés, bátran ülünk be mellé az esti műszakra. ...

A majornál még egy próbakör, aztán célba vesszük Szombathelyt, 13 perc múlva már Gyöngyöshermán felett jár a gépünk, kezdődik a permetezés. ...

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is a Frederick, Maryland-based American non-profit political organization that advocates for general aviation.
The organization started at Wings Field in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. On 24 April 1932, The Philadelphia Aviation Country Club was founded at Wings Field. Sándor gyerekként kezdett modellezni, aztán a napjainkban már megszűnt sári repülőtéren Ifjúság típusú vitorlázó repülőgéppel repült. A rendszerváltás után hulladékszállítással és tárolással foglalkozott. A vadkapitalizmus idején ez valószínűleg piaci rés volt, mert így a lakosság nagy részénél többet keresett. A hulladékkal való foglalkozás közben került közelébe több honvédségi tulajdonban lévő leselejtezett repülőgépnek. Az akkori szabályozás szerint a Hadtörténeti Múzeum engedélyére volt szükség, hogy ne olvasszák be a régi repülőgépeket. Összesen 15 repülőgépsárkány gyűjtött össze. Ezeket a 76 hektáros területen egy őspark és egy kisebb tó mellett tárolta. Ka–26 (NATO kódja: Hoodlum) az 1960-as években a Szovjetunióban, a Kamov-tervezőirodában (OKB–938) kifejlesztett koaxiális rotorelrendezésű, dugattyús motoros, könnyű többcélú helikopter. Sorozatgyártása az Ulan-udei Repülőgépgyárban és a Kumertaui Repülőgépgyárban folyt 1969-től. A gyártását az 1980-as évek közepén fejezték be, addig összesen 816 darab készült belőle. Elsősorban mezőgazdasági szerepkörben alkalmazták, de használták személyszállításra és katonai célra, futár-feladatokra is. A helikoptert Magyarországon napjainkban mezőgazdasági munkára (például permetezésre, műtrágyaszórásra) használják.
Története :Nyikolaj Iljics Kamov az 1940-es évek elejétől foglalkozott helikopterek tervezésével, ezen belül is a koaxiális rotorelrendezéssel. Terveinek tényleges megvalósítására azonban csak a második világháborút követően kerülhetett sor. Ebben az időszakban tervezte és építette meg Ka–8 típusú helikopterét, mely nagy sikert aratott az 1948-as tusinói légiparádén tartott bemutató repülésével. A kísérleti célból épített Ka–8-at csak átmeneti típusnak szánták, ezért szerkezeti felépítése és kialakítása egyszerű volt, még valódi futóművel sem rendelkezett.
A Ka–26 két közvetlen elődjének a Ka–20 és Ka–25 típusú helikopterek tekinthetők. Ezek a repülőszerkezetek szintén koaxiális elrendezésű rotorral rendelkeztek, ez a Kamov tervezőiroda helikoptereire azóta is jellemző. A feladatkörükből és méretükből adódóan meghajtásukra ezekbe a helikopterekbe gázturbinákat építettek be.
Az 1950-es évek végén felmerült az igény egy könnyű és egyszerű, főként polgári és mezőgazdasági feladatok ellátására alkalmas helikopter kifejlesztésére, majd rendszeresítésére. A tervezéssel a Kamov tervezőintézetet bízták meg, bár ezzel egyidejűleg a Mil cég is fejlesztett hasonló feladatkörű helikoptert Mi-2-es típusjelzéssel, ami nem volt igazán jellemző az 1950-es évek szocialista tervgazdálkodására.
A Ka–26 helikopter fejlesztését az 1960-as évek elején kezdték. A prototípus első felszállására 1965. augusztus 18-án került sor. Meghajtására két darab Vegyenyejev M–14V–26 típusú léghűtéses csillagmotort építettek be, melyek teljesítménye egyenként 325 LE.
A típussal több repülési rekordot állítottak fel a Moszkva melletti Zsukovszkij repülőbázison. 1982. március 11-én szovjet pilótanők, Tatjana Zujeva 5626 méteres magasságon, és 5602 méteren vízszintesen repült vele. Nagyezsda Jermemina 8 perc 19,3 másodperc alatt emelkedett helikopterével 3000 méteres magasságba. A Ka–26-ból megközelítőleg 816 példányt gyártottak.
