Crimean crisis: 2014.: The Russian Black Sea Fleet's (BSF) use of leased facilities in Sevastopol and the Crimea was sometimes controversial. A number of incidents took place:
For security reasons, the BSF refused to allow Ukrainians to inspect its aircraft cargo, after allegations by Ukrainians that they could be carrying nuclear weapons, which would have infringed upon Ukraine's status under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)
The BSF transported rockets repeatedly through the port of Sevastopol without seeking permission from Ukrainian authorities.
A lighthouse is located on the headland which, starting in 2005, was the subject of a controversy between Ukraine and Russia. From August 3, 2005, the lighthouse was occupied by the Russian Army. Despite a controversial ruling by a Court in Sevastopol on the subject, Russian military officials referred to the fact that they only took orders from the chief of the Russian Navy headquarters and no one else. Ukrainian activists complained that Sarych was illegally occupied by the Russian Navy. As a military object, the territory around the Sarych headland is closed to trespassers with barbed wire, and the Russian flag flew over Sarych.
In 2006, Ukrainian officials blocked Russian workers from entering the BSF lighthouse in Yalta.
During the 2008 South Ossetia War, the Ukrainian Navy was ordered to block the entrance to Sevastopol from Russian vessels taking part in the hostilities. However, Russian Navy ships returned to base unimpeded by the sympathetic Ukrainian sailors.
June 20, 2009 – In Sevastopol, a Russian fleet servicemen allegedly used physical force against 30 civilians. The city also alleges contract violations by the Construction Management Corporation of the Black Sea Fleet for not following through on promises to construct requested commercial housing after taking advance payment. The city started in talks with the President and the Prime-Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin, and also to the Minister of Defense of Russia, Anatoliy Serdyukov with respect to the contract violations, but those have not yielded results.
On August 27, 2009, Russian marines successfully prevented Ukrainian bailiffs from enforcing a Ukrainian court ruling on seizing lighthouses belonging to the BSF. Russia stated that Ukrainians may not step onto its bases without permission. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry described the Russian obstruction as a "disregard for Ukrainian legislation and international agreements".
On April 16, 2013, a "high-ranking Russian Defense Ministry official" complained to Interfax that "Ukraine’s stubborn position" was slowing the cancellation of customs payments (for the fleet) and that Ukraine still upheld (former) Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko's 2008 decrees that banned the "relaxed procedure" of BSF formations across the Ukrainian border.  ...

It began on 26 December 1941 with an amphibious landing by two Soviet armies intended to break the Siege of Sevastopol. Axis forces first contained the Soviet beachhead throughout the winter and interdicted its supply lines by aerial bombing. On 8 May 1942 they launched a major counteroffensive which concluded by around 18 May 1942 with the near complete destruction of the Soviet defending forces. The Red Army lost three armies (44th, 47th, and 51st) with twenty-one divisions. The operation was one of the battles immediately preceding the German summer offensive (Case Blue), and its successful conclusion enabled the Axis to end the siege of Sevastopol in the following months.
Some groups of Soviet survivors refused to surrender and fought on for many months, hiding in the catacombs of the quarries. Many of these soldiers were occupying the caves along with many civilians, who had fled the city of Kerch. ...

En. text: This List of active Russian Navy ships presents a picture which can never be fully agreed upon in the absence of greater data availability and a consistent standard for which ships are considered operational or not. The Soviet Navy, and the Russian Navy which inherited its traditions, had a different attitude to operational status than many Western navies. Ships went to sea less, and maintained capability for operations while staying in harbour. The significant changes which followed the collapse of the Soviet Union then complicated the picture enormously. Determining which ships are operational or in refit can be difficult. Jane's Fighting Ships has noted in recent editions that some ships have little capability, but remain flying an ensign so that crews are entitled to be paid.
Jane's Fighting Ships online edition, dated 8 March 2010, added "There are large numbers of most classes 'in reserve', and flying an ensign so that skeleton crews may still be paid.  only those units assessed as having some realistic operational capability or some prospect of returning to service after refit."  ...  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_Russian_Navy_ships

En. text: The Black Sea Fleet (Russian: Черноморский Флот, Chernomorsky Flot) is a large operational-strategic command of the Russian (and formerly Soviet) Navy, operating in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea since the late 18th century. Its ships are based in various harbors of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, while its aviation and infrastructure is based in various locations in Crimea and Krasnodar Krai.
It is considered to have been founded by Prince Potemkin on May 13, 1783, together with its principal base, the city of Sevastopol. Russia struggled for a long time against its main rival in the region, the Ottoman Empire, with the Ottoman Navy being its main opponent in the Black Sea. The Black Sea Fleet defeated the Turks in 1790, and fought the Ottomans during World War I, the Romanians during World War II, and Georgia during the 2008 South Ossetia war. The division of the fleet in 1997 became the basis of the Ukrainian Navy.  ...

Ukrainan Fleet in Black-sea
En. text: This list of naval ships of Ukraine includes naval ships which are in service or were recently unlisted in the Ukrainian Navy. As of December 2007, the Navy had 27 combat ships and cutters. The current composition of the Ukrainian battle fleet consists entirely of former Soviet Black Sea Fleet ships.
The shipbuilding industry was stalled after the fall of the Soviet Union. The revival of the industry took place after the Orange Revolution when, on 9 August 2005, the Cabinet of Ukraine provided funding for the national program "Corvette" that was initiated by Minister of Defense Anatoliy Hrytsenko. The first warship built in the independent Ukraine is expected to be completed in 2016.
As of 24 March 2014, all of the larger ships but one (the frigate Hetman Sahaydachniy) of the Ukrainian Navy were captured by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Most of the ships listed as active were returned to Ukraine following the takeover of Crimea by Russia. In 2015 Ukraine received 5 small (7 and 11 meter aluminum) Willard Marine patrol boats; the original order was placed in 2013.
