En. text: Hu. Press Review; GE's aerospace business, which accounts for 25% of its workforce, is set to lay off massive layoffs from GE's Nearly 13,000 employees. The company has previously announced layoffs. General Electric (GE) said Monday it could divest 25 percent of the aircraft business’s global workforce, or 13,000 workers, as flight restrictions drag on for a long time, Reuters reports. The downturn in the aviation industry could have its impact even in 2021, after a 95% drop in demand for aviation in the United States. Last week, Boeing announced a 10% cut. GE’s current announcement is part of the company’s $ 3 billion cost-cutting program and includes previously announced layoffs, including a 10% layoff for the United States. The head of GE’s aviation business said there could be an 80% drop in aviation in the second quarter. GE’s previously announced measures, a 50% layoff for repair workers, froze wages and dramatically reduced other expenses.

This aid package alone only protects employees of airlines, who are constantly being kicked out of companies by companies otherwise associated with aviation. Boeing, which is already in trouble, plans to get rid of 10 percent of the workforce, roughly 16,000 workers. GE has already fired 2,600 people who worked to drive aircraft, and now they would get rid of roughly half of those who worked on assembling them in the U.S.

Ez a segélycsomag önmagában csak a légitársaságok alkalmazottait védi, a légi közlekedéshez máshogy kapcsolódó cégektől folyamatosan rúgják a ki a dolgozókat. Az egyébként is bajban lévő Boeing a munkaerő 10 százalékától, nagyjából 16 ezer dolgozójától tervez megszabadulni. A GE kirúgott már 2600 olyan embert, akik repülőgépek meghajtásán dolgoztak, most azoknak is még nagyjából a felétől is megválnának, akik ezek összeszerelésén dolgoztak az USA-ban.
